This book is the story, told by the people themselves of how they survived the shock of leaving their homes, farms and fishboats, with only the possessions they could carry. How they were herded at Hastings Park and relocated to the interior, accepting their fate of where they ended: in road camps, working beet fields of Alberta and Manitoba, ghost towns and hastily built camps in the BC mountains, the countries only POW camp in Angler, Ontario, or whatever they could find east of the Rockies. Included is stories of how they re-established themselves after the war facing racial bias, economic hardship and failure to be recognized as first class citizens by the government. The stories come from the people: the Issei, or the first generation; the Nisei, their sons and daughters; and the Sansei, the third generation, or survivors.
