- AudioFile Reviews : AudioFile Reviews 2010 December
With her understated enthusiasm, Sherri Slater is often too quiet and slow paced in her narration of this light romantic comedy. After foiling a jewelry store robbery, Sam "Coop" Cooper, a young reporter, is rewarded with the ring of his choice and becomes New York City's most pursued bachelor. The only woman who isn't impressed with Coop, however, is beautiful Lexie Davis, whose grandmother used to own the ring--which has a history. While the story is filled with clever banter and outrageous characters, one sometimes has to strain to hear Slater's whispery dialogue, a quality that diminishes the overall audio experience. The portrayals of Lexie's grandmother and her friend are a highlight--but not enough to carry the day. A.C.P. (c) AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine
